Chances are, when you purchase certified organic products in today's marketplace, they were inspected by someone who was trained in organic inspection practices by IOIA.
Inspectors are an indispensable part of the third-party independent organic certification system. Inspectors travel to farms, processing plants, and dairy and livestock operations across the country, verifying organic practices to USDA National Organic Program standards. Inspectors report their findings back to government-accredited certification agencies, who are the decision-makers in assigning certification, based on the inspectors’ report.
For 30 years, IOIA has been training people in best inspection practices and organic regulations. We depend on our training program and membership fees to operate.
However, fees alone do not cover our costs, especially as we work to meet the increasing training demands of a fast-growing sector of agriculture.
