Course Description

IOIA will sponsor one day of Advanced Organic Inspector Training, November 15, 2022.

The training will be held at the Prairieland Park Conference Center, Prairieland Park - Saskatoon, Saskatchewan

About the training: Valeriya Staykova CFIA/ACIA, (remote), will speak on Vision for the Future of Organics in Canada, COR and Equivalency Updates, with ample Q&A opportunity. George Lewko, PAg, and Instructor - Forensic Agrology at Saskatchewan Institute of agrologists in Prince Albert, SK will speak on Forensic Agrology & Spray Drift on Organic Farms. Janine Gibson, IOIA Chair and accredited inspector, will facilitate a Flour Audit Hands-on Exercise– Parallel Production - mass balance and trace backs of both organic and nonorganic (time management/ risk analysis based). A panel of producer, certifier, and processor will explore Innovative Approaches to Tracking Grain, including use of the Inventory Verification Record and What we know about NOP’s “Strengthening Organic Enforcement” proposed or final rule, depending on when the final rule is announced. Elizabeth Whitlow, Executive Director, Regenerative Organic Alliance, California, USA, adds what potential Regenerative Organic Certification auditors need to know to conduct audits.  

Acceptance Criteria: Participants in IOIA Advanced Inspector Training courses must meet course acceptance criteria, including prior completion of two inspector training courses and 2 years inspection experience with at least 20 inspections or 1 year of inspection experience with at least 30 inspections. Certificates of Completion are given to those who attend all sessions and meet acceptance criteria. Participants who do not meet these criteria are welcome to audit and will receive Certificates of Completion for Organic Inspection Workshop.
